Health Indices

The Health Indices Project is overseen by the Health Management Advisory Committee to assist in the collection of health indices and the coordination of health improvement activities in the mining and extractives industry in NSW. After extensive consultation with industry MSAC has agreed on a number of areas where health indices are to be collected.  The areas are as follows;

WorkCover claims data for lag health indicators

A report which examines 13 years of WorkCover claims data for lag health inidcators has been produced for the Health Management Advisory Committee. The report examines data on three indicators: Manual Handling, Falls from same level and Noise induced hearing loss and identifies statistically valid trends. The report was first published in 2011 and an updated report from that benchmark was completed in 2013. A copy of the 2013 report is available below.

Lead health indicator report

A report that examines lead health indicators was been produced for the Health Management Advisory Committee in 2011. The report details the outcomes from a telephone survey of mines and quarries about actions they are taking to address priority health issues that include noise, fatigue, dust, diesel particulate and musculoskeletal disorders.  As for the lag health report, an updated survey was conducted again in 2013 and a copy of the 2013 report is available below.
